Stuber Land Design’s key individuals have over 200 years of combined experience in the horticulture industry. Our staff includes registered Landscape Architects, Illinois Certified Nurseryman, and licensed pesticide applicators.  All our drivers, crew members and operators are properly trained, licensed, and insured. Eight of our top employees have been with our company ten years or more.

  • Dale Stuber

    Dale Stuber

    Owner/Landscape Architect

    Dale has a Bachelor's Degree in Ornamental Horticulture with an emphasis in Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois and is a registered Landscape Architect in the state of Illinois. After designing for Wirkus Nurseries near Chicago for 9 years Dale moved back to his hometown of Tremont to start his own landscape business, Stuber Land Design, Inc. in February of 1994. He is overseer of the designers and crews, making himself familiar with all of the companies' projects. Dale has a passion for the Midwest, being with family, and rooting for the Cubs!

  • Dana Stuber

    Dana Stuber

    Chief Integration Officer

    Dana has a Bachelor’s degree in Ornamental Horticulture from the University of Illinois. After working in the northern suburbs of Chicago as a landscape designer, floral broker and greenhouse sales account manager, she and husband Dale moved to central Illinois and started SLD. She then concentrated on raising their 3 sons and daughter. Owning a small business is never “hands off,” so Dana stayed involved albeit in a remote way for decades. In April 2020 after a business fire, she took a more involved role. Ensuring the different parts of the company are in communication, working towards cohesive company direction, and integrating Kingdom strategies in the DNA of the company are a few of her key roles.

  • Althea Adams

    Althea Adams

    Landscape Designer

    Althea has her Associates Degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Illinois Central College. She worked as an intern for Stuber Land Design while in college and has been with the company since that time. Althea has had many duties over the years, including office assistant, hardscape inventory, and designing containers. Currently, she is part of the design team. She works with clients from start to finish; from the first meeting to creating a beautiful design to creating a digital layout to a comprehensive estimate to ensuring installation is completed without an issue.

  • Adam Campbell

    Adam Campbell

    Director of Estimating & Graphics

    Adam was born and raised in Pekin, IL. and graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s degree in Ornamental Horticulture with added emphasis on landscape design. Adam has over 15 years of experience in the landscape industry. With his 10 years of experience with CAD design software, he is able to produce 3D drawings to better help customers visualize their completed spaces. In addition to the graphics, you may see Adam measuring your site in preparation for base map drawings. He also creates many of our construction estimates.

  • Dan Cunningham

    Dan Cunningham

    Equipment Manager

    Dan has an Associates Degree from Illinois Central College in Applied Sciences. He studied in the Caterpillar Dealer Diesel/Heavy Equipment Training Program. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Technician at Altorfer Caterpillar Dealer for 12 years and followed that with a shop/equipment manager role at Blunier Builders Inc. Dan's current role is to manage all equipment/vehicle needs and to keep up with facility needs as well. Normal duties include; repair, preventative maintenance, operation, and purchasing of equipment and crew supplies, as well as assisting with crew work when necessary.

  • Doug Getz

    Doug Getz

    Account Manager

    Doug has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Administration from Bradley University. He and his brother, Greg, ran Getz’s Edgemor Nurseries for 13 years after college. He then went on to a 30+ year actuarial career with the former Great Central Insurance Company in Peoria, later renamed Argo Insurance Company, joining SLD immediately after retiring in June, 2019. He is responsible for overseeing the billing of all construction accounts while assisting others with the installation of all jobs. Doug, having never lived outside of Morton, is married with three children (one living in Tasmania!) and nine grandchildren. He’s been active in volunteering, leading several groups at the Peoria and Morton Midwest Food Bank locations since 2005, has been the Administrator for the Morton Apostolic Christian cemetery since the ‘80s and currently serves on the Residents Advisory Board at The Parkside, the retirement home where he currently lives. He loves most sports, especially his St. Louis Cardinals.

  • Jesse Getz

    Jesse Getz

    Estimator/Draftsman

    Jesse was born and raised in Tremont, IL and attended Greenville University, where he played baseball and he majored in Sport Management and minored in Business and Accounting. After college Jesse returned to Central Illinois and began his work career in golf course maintenance, during which time he attended ICC for a year to study Horticulture and Turfgrass Management. Currently, Jesse works in Estimating and Graphics where his main roles consist of measuring and laying out new sites, creating construction estimates and drafting of 2D and 3D design plans.

  • Lauren Howell

    Lauren Howell

    Director of Landscape Management Services and Employee Development Manager

    Lauren has her BS in Ornamental Horticulture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and her MS in Horticulture from Purdue University, where her thesis involved creating an algorithm for perennial garden design. She began her career in the green industry at GreenView Companies where she was wholesale manager before leaving to become the Manager of Peoria’s Luthy Botanical Garden for nearly 10 years. She moved back to Southern California in 2005 working for 15 years in the commercial landscape management industry. She was a Branch Manager at Landscape Development, followed by 10 years at Bemus Landscape as Branch Manager, Director of Horticulture and Director of Employee Development. Her love for the Midwest, and especially the Peoria area, brought her back to Illinois where she joined SLD in 2020. She has two adult daughters and is happy to have both a younger sister and her father also living in the Peoria area. She shares her home with one of her daughters, a dog, three cats and many goldfish in her backyard pond. Go Cubbies!

  • Rachel Probst

    Rachel Probst

    Executive Administrator

    Rachel has degrees in Communications and Sociology from Bradley University. She has worked in the office and done marketing at a number of local small businesses and then worked in recruiting for an engineering firm. Each position has included a bit of “catch all” and that’s no different here. Rachel works mainly with Dale and Dana to ensure all the details get accomplished, but also adds a variety of duties to her job including supply orders, marketing, employee morale booster, copy machine fixer, technology “expert” and so much more!

  • Jason Sauder

    Jason Sauder

    Production Manager - Installation

    Jason has an Associate’s Degree in Avionics and a Bachelor’s in Advanced Technology Studies. He has been with Stuber Land Design since the beginning - over 25 years! As Project Manager, he creates the job schedule, orders hardscape materials, coordinates subcontractors, helps with estimating, oversees the installation at each work site, and uses his expert craftsmanship where needed. Jason is also our outdoor lighting expert.

  • Tom Schafer

    Tom Schafer

    Business Manager

    Tom has a Bachelor’s Degree in Ornamental Horticulture from the University of Illinois. His work experience includes greenhouse production and management. He owned a cut flower business for 5 years. Tom’s responsibilities include plant purchasing & care, inventory control, assisting retail customers, and general management of all office procedures including payroll.

  • Sam Stuber

    Sam was raised riding in Skidsteers and watching his dad Dale draw landscape plans. After working with the family business during summer breaks in high school and learning firsthand how great ideas get built, Sam attended the University of Illinois where he received a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture. He spent two years working on high-end residential projects on the California coast before returning to Central Illinois. He is now a designer at SLD, developing landscape ideas with clients and overseeing construction projects. Sam enjoys spending time in nature, where his interest in native plants often leads to inspiration for planting designs.
